No longer Saxon or Dane, Uhtred and his best friend Brida are fugitives on the run from Uhtred�s uncle Aelfric. Finding himself blamed for a wedding massacre, Uhtred pleads his innocence to the great Viking warlord Ubba, but is not believed.
